QUALITY COMES WITH MAGNESIUM

It is the fertilizer with the highest magnesium content. It is an ideal plant nutrition product for plants showing magnesium deficiency. Magnesium Sulfate also contains a high amount of sulfur. Magnesium is the main component of the green color in plants (chlorophyll) and encourages the plant to make use of sunlight, resulting in healthy, dark green leaves. It is a plant nutrient with an important effect on the plant's photosynthetic capacity, dry matter accumulation capacity and, ultimately, yield and quality. Plants that cannot take up enough magnesium from the soil cannot synthesize enough chlorophyll and gradually lose their green color. In this case, the ability to photosynthesize is lost and growth and development in the plant stop. Magnesium deficiency is particularly common in calcareous and light soils, but it can also be seen in other soil types. The deficiency can arise from two causes. If the soil does not have enough magnesium for plant growth, this is a true deficiency. If the available magnesium in the soil is more than 50 ppm, the soil is sufficient in magnesium. If this amount is less than 25 ppm, there is magnesium deficiency for the plant. Elements such as potassium, sodium and calcium make it harder to take up magnesium from the soil.

The second kind of deficiency occurs when plants whose root development is hindered for various reasons, such as certain nematodes, cannot take up the magnesium that is present in sufficient amounts in the soil. If magnesium deficiency is found in the analysis of a soil sample taken before sowing beet, magnesium should be applied. If soil analysis cannot be done, a decision can be made according to whether magnesium deficiency symptoms were seen in the previous crop.

Magnesium deficiency is common in plants towards the maturity stages of plant development, especially in sandy soils. Magnesium deficiency that appears late may not cause a large decrease in the amount of produce. However, marketability falls, especially in plants grown for their leaves. Soil compaction, waterlogging and drought make the deficiency worse. In some cases, magnesium deficiency can be seen in plants even when there is enough magnesium in the soil. Ions found in high amounts in the soil solution, such as hydrogen, potassium, ammonium and calcium, can reduce magnesium uptake and cause deficiency. High amounts of aluminum ions in soils with a pH of 5 or lower also reduce magnesium uptake and create deficiency.
